Half a score and one years ago, my wife and I set forth upon this continent, a new family, concieved in ignorance of how many car seats can actually fit into a vehicle and dedicated to the proposition that our kids should go see as many places as we can manage to take them. Now we are about to engage in a great road trip, testing whether that family, or any family so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure with five boys under 10 in one vehicle for such long stretches of time.
We are meeting on the great stop of that road trip, our week camping in Rocky Mountain National Park. My wife and some number of children will at Mass nearby. The rest of us will be here, watching the water flow by. Come to make small talk, give me any trackables that are looking to head East, or just hang out for half hour and ask me awkward questions about New Jersey that I can answer at a too-rapid pace in my lovely South Jersey accent (why yes, I do know Bruce Springsteen personally. Okay, I don't, but I wish I did.).
Sadly, I'm not that guy from Germany who will be here next month. Sounds like we got here too early!
