This Wherigo will take you on a High Seas Adventure around part of the Shadow Mountain Lake in Grand County, CO. If you successfully complete your voyage, you will be directed to the sunken treasure (a physical cache container).

Your voyage will take you about two miles around a portion of the lake. Figure on boating between 3.5 and 4 miles total with about 2 miles of that being the actual play of the Wherigo. If you use a boat with an engine or a motor, you will be able to complete the Wherigo quicker than a canoe or a kayak, but larger boats may have a harder time getting all the way to the final. You may need to get out of the boat to retrieve the cache container at the final. This is a 5/5 cache after all! Download the Wherigo Cartridge by clicking the "Related Web Page" link at the top of this page. Fully tested on iOS and the Wherigo player that is built into some GPS receivers. Will also work on Android. Some minor features do not appear on the GPS receiver players, but it does not significantly affect the game play. For best results, make sure you turn your sounds on and all the volume all the way up on your device. There should be a "ding" or a noise for every set of new messages that you receive. You will be on the water the entire time. You may want to consider placing your smart phone or GPS device in a ziploc bag to protect it from getting wet.

5 Logs: Found it 5

Being that this was my first one like this I thought I would give it a try. It started off well as we were in the campground close by. The seas were calm and the temps were cool so off I went. After the first coupe way points I was starting to feel like a drunk sailor going in circles but it all worked out. It would have been easier if I had been in a motor boat but the kayak worked quite well. The cache was easy to find once I got to it but the container was completely full of water. The log book was rather soaked too but I was able to sign it. TFTC SL

What fun! After a quick stop at the Coffee and Cones event, WingsAndTales and I hit the high seas and did a little paddling. The water was fortunately calm enough to make the voyage enjoyable, despite the many dangers we encountered along the way. Thanks for a fun Wherigo and a sought after WIG D/T!!

This was one of the main goals for Copackrat and I while we were in the area for the GCCO campout. She brought her inflatable kayak and I was happy to be first mate for the voyage. The cartridge played smoothly and we found the container quickly once we got to GZ. It was slimy as an old can of beans but right where it should be. TFTC

This Wherigo has been on my to-do list for too long. We were in the area, and it was a beautiful day so this one was definitely on the list.

Loved cranking the music, and had the songs in my head all day :) Cache and ziploc were full of water. We emptied the contents, and hopefully our names remain. Also grabbed the trackable inside trying to get to Hawaii. We can get it to Washington in a few weeks.

Very fun cartridge! Definite FAVE point.

Thanks KJKlock! Logged Shadow Mountain Sunken Treasure from a ninth galaxy using c:geo!
