Kakuro puzzles are like a crossword with numbers. Each square contains a digit between 1 and 9. A row or column of digits between grey squares is referred to as a word. The same digit will never repeat within a word. If you add up the digits in a word, the sum will be the number shown in the clue. Clues are shown on the left and right sides of "across" words, and on the top and bottom sides of "down" words.

Krypto Kakuro are different, in that each digit from 0-9 has been replaced by a letter from A to J. You have to determine the mapping from letters to numbers before you can solve the numeric problem. The big letters in the puzzle are clue letters

Numeric values A-J are the mapped numbers. Numeric values W-Z are from the indicated squares in the puzzle.

Buckle up, this could be a long log. :)

I am normally not a fan of Sudoku or other types of number puzzles. But kudos to you KA&JWest as you have gotten me to do your two Relational Sudoku puzzles and now all three Kakuro puzzles. Every one has been an extreme challenge but super rewarding when I have solved them and found them. And this was no exception.

I worked on this over a month ago and after several days of trial and error and thinking I was getting close only to be thwarted, I solved it. I was so relieved! But then it was a matter of getting out here. I had thought about it a few times, but the timing never worked out. I love all the trails back in here though so I knew I had to get out here.

Today was the day! I took the day off work and took my dog, Jack, on the trail with me. Quite busy for a Wednesday morning! We actually parked closer to Bee Happy and so took the long way over here. This portion of the trail though was definitely quieter which was nice.

Upon arriving at GZ I knew I was in for a long hunt. The leaves are definitely out and there are so many places to look! After about 20 minutes I reached out to the CO for some help. I got a little more information about the container which helped me understand what I was looking for. But even then, it took at least another ten minutes. FINALLY I spotted it, ironically not far from where I originally started searching and where I had dropped my backpack.

I do have to agree that the coords were a little different for me. I found it about 20' SE from GZ. And thankfully I noticed a log from about 4 years ago that helped me expand my search parameter.

It's hard to believe this hasn't been found for over TWO YEARS! It's a great puzzle, great hide and great experience. Everyone else is missing out!

Thanks for challenging me to think hard and use brain cells I don't often employ to solve this puzzle. For the whole experience, this gets a favorite point.

Thanks for the hide KA&JWest

Nice hike in beautiful CO day. Glad leaves aren't out. Lock on nearby tree kept trying to trick me. TFTC

Like many of these other puzzles my father was the solver for me. He enjoys these challenges much more than I do. Had a nice walk but windy.

I love logic puzzles but I haven't done too many of this style so it was a fun one to solve. I had a quick walk to the cache on a nice day. TFTC

Found it at 0925.
I solved this at least a year earlier, maybe two, but never made it out this way for the final. I love Kakuro puzzles but had never seen this type before. I had a nice walk on a cold morning, and liked the wild area and view at GZ. It took me several minutes to spot the cache container. Glad I finally knocked off this one!

I had solved this puzzle years ago, and was thrilled to make it out here today with heh324 and PayMeCache. I enjoyed the hike, the views, and the clue. The hint turned out to make the difference. Thanks for the fun hide.
