Hylophobia involves an irrational fear of wood, forest, or trees. It is often caused by exposure to films and fairy tales which involve scary woods in childhood. Many sufferers don't grow out of the phobia and any walk in a scenic setting can trigger anxiety.

 

The 715 trail doesn't have many geocaches on it. Which makes it a perfect spot for this phobia series. It's a moderate trail, very low traffic. It's really peaceful, and absolutely gorgeous. Happy hunting.

Found it. Had time for one more before I have to turn back. I’ll get the other 2 another day. Like my caching name says I’m a hike and a mama and duty calls. At least I got these 2 today. Tftc

This was the last cache we had Time to find & make it back to the truck before dark. But at least that gives me three more to find on my next ride. Just like the cache title I went too hi first so I had to go back lo to find it. Another fav point for a cache I could ride to.

1:20 PM We are here from Dallas for our typical August vacation in Divide in order to skip the Texas heat for a couple of weeks.

Today I am hiking/caching around Mt Herman with WingsAndTails.

OCW the Rat22 family this morning, enjoying the hike on this fun trail. We quickly found the cache and it’s in great shape. I took the Geocoin to do some traveling. All is well here. TFTC SL

Ha, my GPS again had me trace a giant circle to slowly work towards the GZ. The terrain is tame here, but wasn't sure what to look for... maybe that spooky tree from Poltergeist? Had to laugh when I spotted it. Thanks for the fun series!

I did a little exploring uptrail and discovered an abandoned hobo camp. I stashed a blue tarp and a few dingy knapsacks next to the trail in hopes someone can help pack it out. I lugged 10 lbs in a "Homer" Home Depot bucket, so definitely earning some CITO karma here.

I wonder how prevalent Hylophobia is in the 21st century? I grew up reading children stories of possessed trees attacking children, but even as a kid I loved going into the woods. Instead, cities are where I tend to feel anxious. A walk in the woods is often my best medicine.
