This is a 1.45 mile (2.9 mile roundtrip) hike down Coulson Gulch to the ruins of an old cabin. This cache is accessible via Coulson Gulch Trail #916.

Begin at the trailhead/parking coordinates. Stay on Trail #916 until you reach the ruins of the old cabin. The cache is a medium sized container that is hidden just far enough away from the cabin so as not to be discovered by muggles.

For a person of average fitness that is acclimated to the altitude this hike is easy to moderate. There is approximately 650 feet of elevation gain, most of it on the return. Hikers attempting this cache should prepare for a backcountry hike, bring the 10 essentials of survival gear, and like all of Colorado’s backcountry be pared for the possibility of rapidly changing weather.

I have known about the location of this old cabin for quite a few years now and I thought it would be a great place to share with my fellow geocachers. If anyone knows anything about the history of this old cabin please post to the comments.

Went for a lovely hike with Barkley, Boots&Buttons, and Uncle J. Great day out, watch for rattlers, as one was sunning himself on the trail between "would I pull your leg" and the "ruins". Amazed so few cachers have sought this one out. Perfect reason to get outside, creek bed was dry so navigating to the cache was easy. Use a stick to poke around, spiders abound. Tnln, tftc!

What a great area. Started on the trail at 6:30 am. Ran into a guy at the start doing some turkey hunting, so I told him what direction I was going, so he went the other way. I never saw any turkey's only some deer . Well I found the cache under the third downed tree in the area. Thanks for the hide!

My cache survived the 2013 flood! I hiked in today not expecting to find it but there it was, high and dry, just above the high water mark. The cache container, log, and contents are all in great shape. The Ruins of the old cabin survived too.

The trail is washed out in a few spots and there are a couple of downed trees but they are easy enough to navigate around. Cache on!
