    The Goose Girl

< >A princess is betrothed to a faraway prince. Her mother, before sending her off to marry him, lets three drops of blood fall on a white handkerchief and tells the daughter it will take care of her. She also has a horse named Falada who can speak, which just might come in handy…or not.The princess's maid is kind of mean, because she makes the princess fetch her own water and stuff (heaven forbid). The drops of blood protest, but then the handkerchief is swept away by a river, so it can't protect her anymore. Then the maid goes one step too far, forcing the princess to change clothes with her, making her swear to never tell anyone under pain of death. When they reach the castle, the maid also has Falada killed, so the horse won't give away the secret. The princess arranges for its head to be mounted on the gate she passes through while tending geese, and they have a rhyming exchange every day.The other goose herd tells the king that something strange is going on with this chick, who has pure golden hair and talks to dead horse heads. The king speaks kindly to the princess, but she's not allowed to tell him what happened to her. So the king suggests that she tell her troubles to the iron stove (while he listens, hidden). The false bride is punished with death and the princess is married to her intended.

5 Logs: Found it 5

Found it 08/26/2018 By Back Country Horsemen
We had returned to our Cherokee and decided to walk up here from the parking spot. As others went further up the hill I reached under and found the container, but then realized it was a replacement from just a bit earlier that Seek da Cache had left. We signed the log as a group & hope this one stays in place.

We cached our way up Lefthand Canyon to the Morning meet and greet. Off-Road? Event. At the event we were discussing about the 4X4 caches everyone wanted to do after the event. We had already gathered some caches that we wanted to get done up to and around Brainard Lake so we parted ways. We thought we might run into everyone once we completed what we wanted to do and sure enough we saw the group on the Caribou Trail. We joined waawhoo, GotYour6, Memfis Mafia, Back Country Horsemen, and Honeybuzzed to complete the trail. We had a great time 4 wheeling, caching and enjoying the mountain weather. We replaced a few caches that had numerous DNF's and one that had a broken container and no log. Signed some of the logs with our stamp and some with the group of Tobin's Event. We searched the area with 5 sets of eyes and could not come up with it. I did happen to get a cut from a broken beer bottle while searching at GZ. Placed a new container with log to keep it going.
