Dogs  Recommended for kids  Takes less than an hour  Scenic view  Available during winter  Camping available  Bicycles  Needs maintenance  Snowshoes  Medium hike (1km-10km)  Food Nearby  Tourist Friendly

Short hike up to a waterfall with a toy filled Geocache for the kids or the young at heart.
Park at the trailhead at the end of Rockridge Rd and go around the gate and past the Forest Service cabin.  Once on the trail turn right and follow the access road up to the base of the falls (seasonal- great in the spring and early summer. down to a tricke the rest of the year) and start hunting.  If your feeling adventrous once at the falls turn south and head straight up the steep hill to connect with trail that will take you to Raspberry mountain and deeper into the Pike national forest. My 5 year old and I placed this (and my now 9 year old replaced it after it was lost to the heavy rains of 2015) so that small kids will have more destination GC to hunt for in the area. The name of the cache comes from our choice of camoflage for the container.

Looked diligently with Crafty Queen but didn’t find anything. Perhaps it was washed away since the last find, 8 months ago.

A blast! Cold hike! A good fun container with fun goodies for kids.

FYI FOR PARENTS: While searching, I found an "adult store toy" laying within eye shot of the container. My kids happened to not be near me when the container was found. But I also didn't back it out because I didn't have anything to put it in, nor want to figure out how to explain it to the kids so maybe the next person to come up here can bring something to carry it out in, or at least bury it? I wouldn't just let your kids wander looking for cache unless you want to explain lol.

Beautiful spot for a cache otherwise!

Thanks for the fun cache! Out on the last hike for this visit with crumbcrunchers. We had a couple caches to finish up and this one was along the way. As others have said, we started searching in all the wrong spots all the while a family watched our every move who was playing in the stream and waterfall. After awhile I finally managed to spot it at which point the family started laughing! They asked if we were geocaching and that they had already found it but didn't want to spoil our fun! ha ha ha! Well with that I made my way to the container and family and we all had a good laugh and shared some stories. Turns out this was their 18th cache but have a couple family members who are really into it. Fun times, great laughs. Everything is perfectly fine with the cache. Replaced as found. Thanks for placing this cache for us all to enjoy!

Final cache run before heading back to Texas. RPieperco and I targeted some caches in the canyon that I've had on my list to finish. We started in the right area for this one and then went too high. RPieperco finally spotted it below. Another family hanging out by the falls said they knew where it was and didn't want to spoil it for us. So they enjoyed watching us climbing around looking instead. All was in good shape. Signed and replaced as found. Tftc!

Had this one on my saved list as How the Leopard got it's Spots so was confused when I put in the GC number & this one came up. I've never seen that happen B4. I had originally planned to get this while on my way to Medusa, but the signal in this canyon is terrible so I had climbed past it already. I thought no problem because I would have to come back the same way. Well, I got caught in a bad storm & found a safer way back to my car. After getting dried off & warmed back up by doing some easier caches in & around Monument, I had enough strength & daylight left to attempt this one again. I thought with the hint it would be easy, right?
When I got near GZ there were two gals wandering around up there so I looked trying to use the hint. I didn't see anything that popped out at me so I made my way across the creek (flowing plenty to make that a challenge). They finally left so I could make a more serious attempt. There was one place I wanted to look, but just couldn't quite make the climb so I tried a few other places, no luck. My phone was jumping all around & I wished for my GPS which isn't working right now so I feel handicapped. My phone wanted me further up the hill, but that didn't seem to fit the hint, but I went anyway just to see if I could get closer to GZ. The signal was better & I did, but I still couldn't find anything. Back down closer to the creek & a loose dog shows up to greet my dog whom I have put on a leash. Then 4 older teens? showed up & settled in next to the falls looking right at me. I don't know how but I happened to look one more place and there was something that looked like it could be a cache, or a piece of trash... Sure enough it was a peanut butter jar all taped up. Just as I was signing the log I heard the kids calling Mario, Mario! I thought Oh, they know about this cache, but no, that was the dog's name! Wow! What are the chances? I was so glad I found it & could get down out of there, which was a challenge in itself. This is definitely MUCH more than a 2/2!
I'm not sure the cache is still where it is intended as I didn't see the correlation with the hint, but I put it back where I found it. Also I was surprised when I hiked in that there were 2 vehicles at the cabin (the gate was open) & two fellows enjoying the evening on the deck. They said hi to me & commented they thought my dog was good locking. They were still there when I left so it seems this cabin is private? They didn't mind I was hiking up the trail right past the vehicle.
