A 4-wheel drive road north and west of Redfeather, Co.This is a cache for you die hard cachers. This is a 4-wheel drive road in Chicken Park. There are two caches that we have planted, along this road, so try to enjoy both of them. We definately suggest that you do have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. We also recommend that you DO NOT attempt this journey during wet weather. It's a fun trip, but truly, be fully aware of what you are getting yourself into.
We appologize about the limited availablilty of these caches. The drive is worth it, and the country is beautiful. The forest service lists service roads (which we believe this road falls beyond this category, as it is not maintained during the winter) as closed from November until May. We have seen closures as late as June and October. Beware.
FYI-There are two gates, at the top and bottom of the road. They may or may not be closed. There are three additional gates along the road. Please open and close the gates. The "guard cow" need to protect the caches and they do not understand that they must stay in their location to thoroughly perform their duties. (We will have a further chat with them when we are up there again.)
During the closure times, we believe that you can access Chicken Park. Die hard hikers, EXTREME mountain bikers, and cross country skiers can access the caches. From the gate closures we think it is between 3 to 4 miles of trail.
Have fun, enjoy, and happy hunting. Please re-hide very well.
Oh yeah, oldest girl wanted to pose the question. There is a very cool tree, very nearby(you can't miss it). How old do you think the tree is??? Either log your thought or e-mail us.
11/05/2016 By KingJR so the previous logs of found sounded promising to locate this one... either my cache mojo was off because it was lunch time and i was hungry, or this one is MIA. ground zero has excellent GPS signal, but alas, I didn't seem to locate a regular size container.
