GC4GB9P Unknown Cache Million Miles From Home Challenge
Type: Mystery | Size: Regular Regular | Difficulty: 5 out of 5 | Terrain: 2.5 out of 5
By: WingsAndTales @ | Hide Date: 07/12/2013 | Status: Available
Country: United States | State: Colorado
Coordinates: N39° 00.489 W105° 00.462 | Last updated: 08/30/2019 | Fav points: 0

The cache is at the posted coordinates but you must complete the challenge before you can log the cache. Stay on the main ridge until you are about 200' from the cache. The smaller ridge heading right leads to the cache. Please cover the cache carefully when you put it back.
Total the distance from your home coordinates to each cache you have found. You need a million miles to qualify.

All your finds count so a lot close to home or a much smaller number at a distance will get you there. Show your qualifications however you can but you must provide reasonable documentation that you meet the requirement. I'll provide examples of a few ways to demonstrate your qualifications.

07/15/2013 - Update - There is a GSAK macro that will calculate your qualifications specifically for this cache. It is MillionMileChallenge.gsk.

1. The easiest but least accurate method is to use your Geocaching.com stats page. Multiply the number of caches you have in each range by the LOWEST distance for the range. The picture below is from my stats page and results in the following calculation:

0 X 43 + 1 X 935 + 10 X 949 +......+ 500 X346 + 1000 X 248 + 2500 X1 = 533,075 Miles

2. Your profile on the Project-GC website has a block labeled "Finds by distance from home". To find it click on the link and you should be on the Dashboard page. From there select "My Profile Stats" and scroll down. You will need to convert from kilometers to miles. This block is not visible to other users so I can't see it if I look up your profile. Please include a screen shot of the block for proof. If that is not possible you can copy and paste it but it is harder to read. An example from my stats is below.

There are a lot of caches in this big, wide world. Go get 'em.

I have found more than 7000 caches that were at least 1000 miles from my home; that's over 7,000,000 miles as a subtotal; see my public statistics or the attached table. Very good challenge, FDF favorite point, and TFTC!

We posted our qualifications on July 23rd, and found the cache today. Just like at the nearby Double Digit Grid Bingo cache that we found just before this one, this area was not affected by the recent Rampart fire at all; no signs of burn, and nearby Farish Recreation Area was full of campers, picnickers and fisher-types. Stamped the log, and dropped off a Pure Caching Magic trackable (copy tag) of ours. Traded a little swag and were on our way. TFTC !
The listed Brick trackable was not in the cache BUT -- Kriyacacher logged that they picked up the trackable. I have sent them a note with that info.
