This easy cache was placed for the Grand Lake Area Historical Society.
The Smith-Eslick Cottage Court was built in Grand Lake in 1915 and is the oldest motor hotel (motel) in its original condition in the United States.

Because the Cottage Court in the process of being moved from, and then back to, its permanent location, it has been necessary to temporarily move the cache a short distance away. The new coordinates are N 40.15.103, W 105.49.423. The coords were averaged, so they should get you close enough to make this a quick find. Think silver or gray.

We were so looking forward to attending and caching our way to and around the Celebrating Historic Grand Lake Event. We had received an email last night from one of the hosts that Trail Ridge Road was closed due to ice and snow, and that the event might be canceled. Mr SDC informed me that we weren't taking Trail Ridge Road to get to Grand Lake. I emailed the host back to let her know and she made arrangements to have another host there in the event we decided to chance the weather spoiling our day. We are so glad we went ahead with our plans as we had an amazing day caching and enjoying the end of the changing of the Aspens BigSmile. The weather started out a bit iffy with some light rain and fog but cleared up nicely as we got deeper in the mountains. We managed to grab most of the Across The Divide GeoTour 2018 caches along with some others. Used the original coords to make the find. 074, 420 SL, TNLN, TFTC

Our Colorado vacation continued today with a drive from Grand Lake to Estes Park. Mostly, we were working on the Across the Divide GeoTour. We stayed just about a block away from here last night, so I wanted to attempt the cache before we left. As noted in previous logs, the coords are pretty far off. The "original" coords are correct: N 40° 15.074 W 105° 49.420
