Quick grab. Interesting to see several fenced grave areas on the hill. TFTH sl

Out with friends making a loop from Buena Vista, over Monarch Pass then Pitkin and back to BV via Hancock Pass a total of 145 miles. We dropped a replacement container and tie wrapped it to the tree. We don't want to adopt this cache as we do not live in Colorado.

Is anyone interested in placing a new cache at this location. If so, I'll transfer ownership to you.

After reading the last post, we decided to check up on it Much to our dismay we found that somebody had stole it. It was well marked outside and inside as a geocache with a bright pink lid. Not only did they take the box and contents but rolled the log off and totally destroyed the area where it had been. We looked around to see if maybe they re-hid it but couldn't find it. So at this point we will disable the post and this area will be open to someone else.

DNF - looked and looked but still more fresh logging. Saw that view but didn't find the cache. :(

Stopped by this week to check on cache since there has been logging activity in the area. It is snuggled away safe and sound. This is the view from the cache. The cemetery has almost been buried with logging but one headstone and several fences still visible.

I have never been to Monarch Pass so I figured today would be a beautiful day to come up here before the first round of winter weather hits tomorrow. It was a sunny warm day with a strong cool wind...perfect fall weather. There were also tons of people on the road with the same idea apparently. It was still a great day for a short road trip to see the beautiful changing colors of the leaves as well.

The cemetery is in need of some tlc. Only a few headstones are even recognizable. Followed the gps and quickly made the find. TNLNSL. TFTC!!!

Took af few minutes to track down, lots of potential hiding spots around GZ. Cleaned up cache and added a pen & ziploc, unfortunately cemetery is fenced off and it looks like there may be only one recognizable grave left. TFTC

I wandered around this cemetery twice thinking the cache must be near. Not much left for headstones and the current logging seems to be taking over the place. Finally trusted the coordinates and found the cache in short order, some distance away from the cemetery. Thanks for this historical locale.
