Signal Peak is located northeast of Gunnison about a fifteen minute drive from down town. I recommend 4-wheel drive to navigate the trail.
The cache is in a clear plastic half gallon container. It contains a small Colorado license plate, a Colorado lanyard key chain, a Crested Butte compass key chain and a Colorado key chain.

The view from the top of Signal Peak is fantastic. You can see most of Gunnison, up Ohio Creek and almost up to Almont. Take your camera with you as I'm sure you'll want at least one picture.

TFTC!! I know everyone had a really hard time looking for this one and I have been procrastinating hunting for it for about 2 years because of that. It was a cloudless sky today and I wanted to leash the dog in the shade so he would not follow me and I could concentrate on hunting for this difficult cache. Then, because the bugs were eating me alive, I had to apply bug spray. Finally, I was ready to begin. SoldierGrrrl was standing above me and I asked if she was at GZ. She was, so I started my search on my way up to her and walahhh, there it is. We are done!! Untie the dog.

CB_Beauty and I started our "Summer of Lonely Caches" yesterday in an attempt to update/liven up some lonely caches that have not been found in at least 2 years. Today we saw two lime kilns and Gunnison from high elevation.

I will say that the geo-higher powers were with us today. Neither CBB nor I were excited about spending an hour flipping rocks in a scree field, like others before us, but we were mentally prepared. As I was flipping rocks half-way up, CBB was tying up the whiny geo-dog in the shade. The GPS kept pointing 8 feet away, so I moved, then still 8 feet. As soon as CBB was done, she started up the hill, stood on a flat rock, and, "Oh, here it is!" WOO HOO! Lots of great swag in here. Bring the bug spray! Even in the middle of a scree field those horse flies and skeeters were eating me alive. Ugh! I looked for about 10 minutes and CBB for about 45 seconds. We parked at the very bottom of Signal Peak and walked up. A 4WD would make it to within 300 feet.

Wow! I hiked up Navajo rd. to the top and spent an hour looking for it. Putting in updated cords helped a lot. Beautiful up here.
It's somewhere in this mess

It was an interesting drive to the cache but it was a tough one to find. We started at the top and worked our way to the bottom which was the wrong way to do it. After an hour and a half we finally spotted it. TFTC

Due to knee surgery, I couldn't be with Flutiste and Tonka! when they found this geocache. Unfair -- I helped Flutiste the first three times she tried to find it, to no avail. Now that I can hike a little, she brought me here to show me where it is. So I signed the log. This is one TOUGH geocache to find! TFTC

It's Friday the 13th, and I FINALLY found this stinker! This was my 4th attempt, and even with a hint from Swede, it still took an hour to find it. Tonka and I had given up and were about to leave, when I gave it one last try. Unbelievable. Looking for this cache is like doing a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle with no picture. It's so hard to find, it ought to be filled with gold pieces. The area is closed to vehicles, so hiked in from the Lost Canyon Road -- nice hike, lots of Pasque flowers.
