Ammo box located not far off a "regular" trail in Summit County, Colorado. Trail is good but steep in some parts. Cache is at an elevation of 10,446 feet. *********************************************************** NOTE REVISED COORDINATES ON 08/12/02 AS FOLLOWS: N 39 34.009 / W 106 06.681 ***********************************************************
Coordinate readings taken using an e-Trex and were averaged over 8 different readings with the best indicated accuracy of 21 feet.

The “Cajun Cache” is located only a few feet off a “regular” trail. The elevation gain from one of your possible parking places will be about 1,300 feet and the trail is about 2 miles long (and fairly steep in some spots). You’ll pass an old mining area on your way. You’ll have some great views of “a lake”, the Continental Divide and a Ski Area on your climb. It can be windy and somewhat cool up on top, even on a summer day so be prepared!

The Cajun Cache is a olive-drab, ammo box (don’t remember the caliber) but it’s a “decent sized” box.

Original items placed in Cache:

Lots of Mardi Gras “stuff” (beads, a doll, cups, small, football, medallions, etc.) A fresh 4-pack of AA Batteries Some packs of “Handi Wipes” Some “Hand Warmers” (for cold weather use) A disposable camera A new CD game “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” A logbook with felt-tip pen, pencil, and sharpener A welcoming message with a photograph of the cache owners

Good Hunting!!!

 Hints

After crossing the avalanche chute above the old mining town, take the left hand fork and head "up" the mountain. At the next "fork" in the trail, take the right-hand fork. At the cache, don't "give up" on locations near trees but watch the drop-off overlooking the highway.

The advice and pics from previous caching posts were both very helpful. This was our first summit hike of the season. We’ve gazed at this peak from Frisco during many visits. It was great to finally climb it and was a pleasant surprise to see this cache at the top. Amazing views of Lake Dillon, Buffalo Mountain, and Ten Mile Range.

We were thankful for a previous cacher’s note about the coords! Otherwise, I’m not sure how much time we would have wanted to spend looking for it, as it was quite cold - so cold that I had trouble signing the log! TFTC and greetings from Southern California :-)

Found it after a long search. It's 150 ft further up the trail from the coords in a bush. Second time to find this cache. First time was 9 years ago! Now we hauled two boys up the hill along with us.

Searched for a while. Could not find. Not sure if the coordinates are off or if the geocache is no longer here.

We had 5 very experienced cachers searching for an hour and no luck. Looked at logs from 10 years back and all pics but still came up with a frowns face. ??????

I noticed in the 3rd dnf in a row. I used hint and spread a 20m grid in search of it. No joy.

No luck for us, spent about 10-15 min hunting around with 3 pairs of eyes.
