An easy walk to a level site near river. Elevation 6978ft
Our Cache La Poudre --brought to you by Geofred, Geo_cache_Dan and Furcifer10

With a name like that, of course, we went with a “powder” theme. The nearby river was named after the early trapper/traders reference to hiding their extra gunpowder needed on an extended hunting trip. This is an easy walk from the roadside to a small park the whole family could enjoy. Bring your fishing rod (no bait allowed), or a frisbee or just a picnic basket to enjoy the river. Swimming, if the temp is right, is also possible. We are using a clever "Furcifer10" design cache container which has an interior space of roughly 5"x5"x5" so you will need to exhange "powdered" items smaller than that dimension. Please carefully close the container....once you are able to open it!

In our homage to the river’s past we present a reborn cache filled with:

  • Denture powder
  • Flea powder
  • Baby powder
In keeping with the theme, please bring a “powdered” exchanged, but please, no gunpowder or similar items. PLEASE NO FOOD ITEMS. REMEMBER THIS IS A THEME CACHE. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A "POWDERED" ITEM, DO A TNLNSL.

 Hints

Novices used to be stumped by the location. But now they will be looking for a traditional container well camo'ed.

Thanks for the nice cache. Walked over after a hike up Dadd Gulch. Took the longer harder way to the cache closer to the river. Took the easier flat way back. Cloudy but not too cold for February.

Cool spot but really hard to get to. Make sure you wear hiking boots because it is a lot of tall grass and bushes.

Acachingcat and I came to the area from Florida. Our primary goal was to find as many virtuals and earth caches as possible. We also grabbed a few other caches along the way. We had a whirlwind trip finding 7 new states, hiking to mountain tops and learning so much history along the way. We had a blast and appreciate every CO for placing caches for us to find along the way.

Smithj9 and I left Fort Collins eaarly to take a drive and cache through Poudre Canyon down to Grand Lake. We saw all kinds of neat places and learned a lot about the history of the area on our way. Thanks for placing and maintaining these caches for us to enjoy while visiting from Florida.

We had a most enjoyable drive this evening along the La Poudre. What a beautiful site! We saw several rafters and some fishermen, and people just enjoying the river. The narrows were breathtaking! We parked down the road a ways and had a pleasant walk over to gz. The cache is in great shape. SL TFTC! BigSmile

Nice stopping spot to explore. Didn't see any rattlers, and the ticks aren't out yet.

We headed out with good friends and fellow geocachers, the Younghummers to check out some campsites at Dowdy and geocache the Red Feathers area. What a beautiful day to be out and about! We were amazed at the lack of snow. We thought for sure we would be digging through lots of snow to find caches, but were thrilled to not have to. We had a fairly long walk from where we parked, but it was such a pretty day and we really enjoyed ourselves. Nice quick find once we got to ground zero. TFTC
