CONGRATULATIONS TO icezebra11 FOR FTF!!

The North Fork Cache La Poudre River cuts through a marvelous canyon lying just north of Turkey Roost. From Divide Creek (east of Trails End) downstream to Bull Creek the river tumbles through a remote, rugged, rarely-visited narrows. Cliffy terrain rises above the river on its north and south sides, and a beautiful strip of riparian trees and occasional meadows closely border this wonderful waterway. The precipitous relief is broken for one fairly narrow stretch on the river’s south side, allowing relatively gentle access down into the canyon just west of Turkey Roost. A clearly discernible path descends through this weakness in the cliffs and towers. This “trail” is your route to the river and the cache locality.

When you reach the coordinates, take time to sit and appreciate the remarkable spot you’ve reached. Close your eyes while you listen to the swiftly moving water below. It’s therapeutic, and the experience will be indelible in your memory. Look overhead for soaring golden eagles. A pair occupies a nesting eyrie in this canyon, so chances are good for close-up views. And don’t leave without looking up at Colorado’s Turkey Roost. It looks really sheer from this perspective!

Make certain that you return the cache to exactly where you found it, and carefully replace the small rocks that prevent it from rolling downhill. Enjoy your hike to this lovely location!! You’ll never forget it.

Was hiking with friends and my puppy Orizaba today and one of our destinations was the canyon of the North Fork, NW of Turkey Roost. Took the opportunity to check on the cache. All is in good order.

We have been wanting to get to this cache for along time-the last of the Turkey Roost caches. It was a beautiful day and a lot of the leaves were already turning yellow. We parked on Cherokee park road in the suggested parking area and where we have parked before. So imagine our surprise when we saw people driving on the road and two cars parked right at the start of the trail. We always know when we go after a Denali cache it will be a great hike to a great spot and this one didn't disappoint! We met another couple going down as we were coming up. We also met another cacher that just came off from trying to get up Turkey Roost and was on his way to look for this one. Priscila and Elly joined us and now they are very tired. Oh and this is day #25 of the 31 days of geocaching. Thanks so much!!

Wow, a {FTF} on a quality Denali41 cache! Hard to believe this one's been out there for over 3 months and no one went after it. What a beautiful spot along the river. I'm not a fisherman but this looks like it would be a great place to hook a few. This is definitely a place I wouldn't have discovered had it not been for the cache. Thanks Denali, the caches you create make this hobby so enjoyable for me!
