Needs maintenance

Bushwackers cave is located just North of Peaceful Valley, and as it's name implies there isn't much of a trail there. Good thing it's only about 1/4 mile hike to the cache. I just happened to come across this cave while I was looking for a place to put a cache. It's not in an area that's very well traveled.
The cache is in a blue tupperware type container, and was placed just behind a wooden shelf, about 10 feet inside the cave. There are some supplies inside this cave. It looks like at times the cave is used as shelter. There is a sign at the entrance of the cave that says " Come in anyone. You're welcome here. Sit down. Have some tea. If you're hungry, eat. If you're sleepy, sleep. There's always room for friends. PLEASE RESPECT THE PROPERTY OF OTHERS.
The Original contents in the cache were.

Playdough
Yellow hotwheel
oarnge hotwheel
Spiberman bust
Black bat sucker keeper
Purple 4x4 truck

We bushwacked to the cave from School's Out. Don't recommend this as it took us over an hour. Tried to follow the creek but had to go up and around several rock formations. But we made it! It was a nice cool day for the hike. Nice to find this cool oldie.

Brought in a new plastic tub for the cache, and a new notebook and large ziploc bag for the logbook. Left a pathtag.

We managed to find a much easier route up and out.

This one was harder than I thought it would be. We originally tried to hike over to it from the nearby Mondo NAT cache, but that proved too hard. So we parked a little farther down the road and followed a barely discernible trail along the creek o the cave. It was about a quarter mile. The hardest part was finding a way down to the creek from the little parking area (follow the fence line). Interesting spot.

Note: The cache container lost its lid. It would be good if the next cacher brought a sturdy, regular-sized replacement. The 3-ring binder that holds the log needs replacing, too; the critters have been eating it. A case or large baggie that is big enough to hold it is also needed.

I've wanted to get this one for a long time, but didn't think I should bushwhack solo. So, when Path Pacer proposed a jaunt to get this one, I was definitely up for it.

Initially we tried the top-down approach from a higher cache...not such a good idea. The terrain just got dicier and dicier. So, we relocated our car and tried a bottoms-up route--yeah, that's better. It still wasn't easy, but the cache location was such a reward! We did some CITO and some just plain snooping around. I personally enjoyed the candleholder made from a Grand Marnier bottle--can't say I've ever packed Grand Marnier into the woods, but hey, each to his or her own.

As always, the great thing about caching is the places it takes us. Thanks for taking me to this particular place; loved it!

Did some 'wheeling with the kids and got pretty close. We thought the cave was cool and so did tens of thousands of gnats. I wish I would have bought a log and trash bag. We signed a picture someone else had left in the container. SL TNLN TFTC

What a cool little spot! Made the trek to the cache much harder than it needed to be. Returned the following day with the kids and found a friendlier route. Packed some loose trash out. TFTC!

The cave was a bit messy so I tidied up a little before I left. I noticed tooth marks in a couple things. Yikes! Thanks for the cache!

Whoa! This was intense. First we were above it. Then when we finally saw what it was... wow! Nice hide. Certainly a good deal of bushwhacking. My wife wrenched her hip hiking Ouzel Lake yesterday. Thought we'd take it "easy" and geocache. This was a little more than we'd planned but what a pay off. Found w/ HikerGirl... TFTC
