The Cirque geocache is not difficult to find and is intended as a convenient stopping point for a rest break or lunch on the Barr Trail with a fantastic view. It is far enough away from the trail to be quiet but can be reached without stepping on any tundra grasses. Be a little careful with small kids or dogs because the drop into The Cirque is several hundred feet. Please replace the rock that holds the geocache in place because high winds in winter might dislodge it.
I've stopped at this place for years going up and down the Barr Trail because of the great view and the sense of remoteness. There are ways to get into The Cirque and several exits to climb out of it...we've done it in both winter and summer. Let me know if you want some beta on doing that. In the old days, Harvey Carter, a well-known climber from the Colorado Springs area, did a bunch of climbing routes on the big towers of rock in the SW corner of The Cirque.

 Hints

If you are having trouble with the precise location, go straight south from the switchback where you are located as if you were going to walk right over the cliff into The Cirque. After you get on the other side of the ridge, move a few feet west, look around a little and you should find it.

Hiking the Barr trail from Manitou Springs to the Pikes Peak Summit on a beautiful day, grabbing a few caches along the way...quite a view from here...nice hide...TFTC!

Wow, what a day. Weather, views, sights and caches. The plan was to take advantage of the weather and find some Pikes Peak caches. I wasn't sure whether I would be able to make this hike. After venturing down the Barr Trail a ways from the top and seeing what was involved, it seemed possible. The hint was very helpful. And thank goodness the wind wasn't too strong. I just took it slow and easy going back up (but not steady, lots of breaks!). Seeing bighorn sheep was the highlight of the day, but accomplishing this hike was a close second. Thanks for the cache.

Giving this a favorite point for the nice location. Reached this one on our way to the summit after hiking but via Barr Trail. Joined by Julie Dunham, Jaime Dunham, and Adalie Dunham on the hike. This was Julie's 104th summit of Pike's Peak. I haven't been counting but it's probably my 40 to 50th or so. The cache is in good shape with good coordinates. TN LN TFTC.

Yike- Not hard to find is one thing... but this was sitting right out on the edge of one wind gust away from a very quick trip into "beautiful oblivion". I set it in a nice covered shelf with a rock on top that will prevent accidental movement.

Hiked the Barr Trail with Kerewin0430. Kerewin came up with the find on this one. What a beautiful place for a cache. Such an incredible view.
