Takes more than an hour  Scenic view  Difficult climbing  Ticks  Abandoned mines  Parking available  Thorns  Medium hike (1km-10km)

Cache is for people who can hike on a steep side hill about one mile total round trip. Elevation is at 11000 feet.
This cache is for people who don't mind a bit of adventure and some difficult side-hill climbing to a blast from the past. On the flanks of Mt Silverheels, named after the dancehall queen and ladies of the night brothel owner from the 1880's, this old miner and his cabin may have very well known the queen herself and maybe entertained members of her troupe; who knows? Bucky's Buddy (me) and Grandpa (pnbtravlers) hope you enjoy the hike to the past. Along the hike you may see Elk signs on the aspen where they love to chew on bark and rub their antlers. The bark contains salisilic acid--common asprin, which keeps elk some of the healthiest animals in the forest. Park on CO Hwy 9, approximately one-quarter mile south of MM 74, on the West side and follow your GPS compass arrow. The cache has a travel bug that wants to "fly to all 50 states. If you are the lucky one to start its adventure, Thank You! But please enjoy a peice of Colorado History and the ghost of Silverheels.

I bushwhacked my way from For the LEOS to this cache myself. I figured I would be better off going overland from that point since it was about the same altitude. I was wrong and had a tough little hike. Even so I loved the area and the cabin was neat to see. On my way down to the road where papa was waiting to pick me up I saw another cabin. I really enjoyed this one and am giving it a favorite. Thanks for hiding a cache here.
