Along Pole Hill Road, there is a side road up to Panorama Peak (FS247). 4WD required, or hike 2.2 miles (one-way) along Forest Road. Cache is an ammo box and is easy to find once you get to the zone.
This is an awesome 4WD and ATV area near our neighborhood. Stock 4WD's with good clearance can make it. There are numerous loops to explore and primitive campsites. For complete trail guides, see the "related web page" link above, or search for "Pole Hill Road" in various books or websites.

The cache is an easy walk about 100 yards from the road. This area is a nice meadow with awesome views where you can take a break. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE OHV's ACROSS THE MEADOW TO THE CACHE. Forest Service forbids this!

This road continues uphill to Panorama Peak, elev. 9284 feet. There is a locked gate. But you can park at the gate and hike up to the peak. The area is under a lease to tour operators that take their guests to the lookout tower. But if you're not a guest of the tour company, it is permissible to hike up. The tower, however, is only accessible to the tour company guests.

Note that the gate to the Forest Access Road may be closed from late December until Memorial Day. Watch the cache postings for updates on whether the gate is open or closed. Bikes and hikers are welcome year-round. The gate just inhibits the vehicles.

Check real-time weather conditions at Weather Underground (wunderground.com), look for Estes Park, then click on the Personal Weather Station named "Pole Hill Road". (The personal weather stations in the area are listed at the bottom of the page.)

Did a welfare check while out for a Jeep ride. It’s in great shape, right where it’s supposed to be, and full of swag!

A beautiful area with an amazing pine smell! Exploring in our Jeep, finding caches and hiding a couple of caches too! Thanks for placing this cache for us to find!

Beautiful day in this mild winter! My dog is about 7 months old and he’s a great hiker, so we got this one together. A few deer and a bunch of birds were our only company, which is just what I was hoping for. Thanks for the nice cache in such a nice place!

I was in the general area today making the long, long hike in to climb Sugarloaf Mountain. Afterward, I found a couple of caches, including this nice one. It's been a long time since I hiked up this forest road to reach the top of Panorama Peak. It was pleasant doing it today with my puppy Orizaba--fairly cool and a light drizzle that kept things cool. Thanks for this nice placement, kasapearson!
