CONGRATULATIONS TO SILVER TREKKER FOR THE FTF!!

"Swarm" Over Miller Fork is a "bee" microcache obtained from the original Swarm multi-cache in Fort Collins (GC1AX40).

One of the hiking routes to this cache is no longer available. Park at the Dunraven Trailhead and ascend the Bulwark Ridge Trail to its junction with the Indian Trail. Follow the latter trail on a steep descent to the Miller Fork Trail. The cache is a short distance from the junction of these two trails. It is located at approximately 7,950 feet elevation. Nearby cliff faces result in considerable signal bounce, but the coordinates were averaged and can have an accuracy of about 15 feet.

Plan to make this a leisurely hike by packing a lunch to enjoy in the nearby meadow. Bring plenty of water. It's a lovely area that is infrequently visited.

The cache is a green, matchstick cylinder. It's on the rock face near GZ. It is not on the ground, and there is no need to do any climbing

As icezebra11 has explained in his found log, we made a scouting trip for his Leader-in-Training hike that included going near my three caches in this area. They are: "Swarmin" Over Miller Fork; Vistas of Miller Fork; and The Mummy and the Comanche from the Lookout. Each is remote, in a superb location, takes a significant effort to reach, and is generally quite "lonely". They were placed 9 to 10 years ago and have few finds to date. Of course I took the opportunity afforded by this hike to check on these caches. Because they had not been found for a long period I was concerned that one or more might be showing signs of age. That was not the case! Each, including this one, was in excellent condition, as if it had been placed only yesterday!

As a gauge of effort, the loop hike we took from the location where we parked involved 13 miles of hiking and more than 3,500 feet of cumulative elevation gain. We could have shortened the hike by not making a loop of it, but the saved distance would not have been substantial. So anticipate a long outing if you decide to reach all three caches on a single hike.

Today we hiked down to Miller Fork via Bulwark Ridge. Going down the trail from the ridge filled us with a bit of dread about our return trip. However, we reached the bottom and based on all the previous logs were lucky to find this one in just a few minutes. I can see how it could be difficult with all the nooks and crannies. This area was really lovely and quiet and I hope to return for future exploration. Going back up the trail was certainly steep but luckily my boys were in a great mood and we made quick work of it and got a great workout. Thanks for another wonderful hiking cache!

Stopped and looked for this one for about 45 min on my way up the miller fork trail. I swear I checked everywhere at least ten times. So many little nooks and crannies. Swung back by on my hike home, checked a place a checked 5 times, and what do you know, little green bottle! So many places to check, and if I hadn't moved that one rock, never would have found it. Devious little bugger. And after all that I didn't have a pen! Tftc
