Measuring 70–90 cm (28–35 in) in length, it is an all-black bird which gains a small double crest of black and white feathers in breeding season. It has a bare patch of orange-yellow facial skin.

The Double-crested Cormorant is found near rivers, lakes and along the coastline. It mainly eats fish and hunts by swimming and diving. Its feathers, like those of all cormorants, are not waterproof and it must spend time drying them out after spending time in the water. Once threatened by use of DDT, the numbers of this bird have increased markedly in recent years.

Peace love pi and I headed out and about today to grab a few. We thought it was going to be cold, but it was a beautiful morning. I have this crazy flirtation with finding all the traditionals within a 10 mile radius. We started at a southern spot and started working our way north. Both of us were on it, and we wound up finding a lot of caches that had previous DNFs. LOL we were looking in all the wrong places and then looked at the hint. Thanks for the smiley!

I saw no cormorants here, but spied one further South- down on the river. I have been wanting to do a Denver trip for a long time. Weather was great all three days and there was plenty of things to see as I ventured around grabbing Smileys. SL, TFTC

Out with NTM this afternoon grabbing caches. We took on about 5.5 miles total and found 9/12 caches. There was still a good amount of snow on the grab, but that did not affect us for the most part. Thanks for all the caches.

I provided many bird views for T&A137 and benj59 today. Sometimes I even used both hands. Thanks for the fun hide and addition to a great day of caching.

Out on the trail with FearTheFish and T&A137. As the Fish started walking fast towards the beacon I ran ahead and made the quick find. Nicely done placement. I always love finding ones like these!

I spent the day caching from Florence to Denver taking a bit of a long route so I could find caches in some new counties. I had good weather and for the most part good traffic and even better, good caches.
Went for a bike ride and found this one.
Thanks for the fun!
