This is the sixteenth cache in our "Coniferous" series.  This cache is hidden in the Pineries Open Space.

 

The cache is NOT hidden at the posted coordinates.  Solve the following puzzle to determine where the cache is hidden.  The alphabet key and passphrase can be found in the geocache description.

The Pineries Open Space trail was opened on 6/27/2020.  It is an 8.7 mile loop from the parking lot with about 500’ of elevation gain.  From the trail you can see some old growth Ponderosa Pine forest as well as burn areas from the fire of 2013.  For more information, please see the following link:  https://www.trailsandopenspaces.org/trails/pineries-open-space/

The wife and I were excited to get out and visit this new open space and snag some of the newer geocaches in the area. We got a later start than we wanted but the clouds moved in and we hiked in rainshowers for the final few miles of the hike. All in all, a great 9 mile hike!

I knew I wanted to solve this puzzle and grab it today on our hike I had looked at it a few times before but, knowing the cleverness of the CO, I wasn't able to crack the code. I even worked on it with another cacher with no luck. Took another look this morning before heading out and something made sense. All of a sudden, I saw it take shape. Voila! Coords! At GZ, we chuckled once we found it. We considered the two-kids-in-a-trenchcoat approach but opted for a TOTT instead. Well how about that - one ready for us! We snapped some photos and signed the log. Dropped two TBs for future finders. This one is great and earns a favorite from me. TFTC!

Wow, surprised to see Rob14erGuy as the FTF! Way to go Rob...it's like the old days. When I saw the hint, I was immediately glad I had ernie66 with me. But it turns out I might have been able to handle it on my own. Another fun hide by gampa&gamma. Thank you!

It's been a while since there have been any new puzzles like this in the area. Had to search a bit to find my trusty solver for this. With coordinates loaded, estes01 and I started off on the loop clockwise. In due time we arrived at GZ and spotted the container. Fortunately we were able to access it and get it returned without too much difficulty and without breaking any branches. TFTC!

I like these kind of puzzles so made the trip out to this nice new trail and surprised to be FTF! Great hiding spot! Took the Jeep TB to move along, thanks for the puzzle and hide
