Kingston - 1960
Kingston - July 2002
Cabin
South Kingston
Stumps

The 5th of the Ghost Town Caches. Located in the old mining town of Kingston at an elevation of 10,345 feet.
Kingston is located on the same route as Ghost 4 - American City. Use the same directions as I provided in that cache. Follow the same road past Nugget and the turn off to American City to the Intersection which turns right to Tolland and East Portal. Going straight will take you to Kingston. The road from this point is the reason I rated the terrain a 3. It is a jeep tail, but I made it in a one ton Chevy dually pickup, so a pickup should be able to make it. If your driving a SAV (Suburban Assault Vehicle - so much for political correctness), don't even think about trying this road, many big rocks and bumps that can high center a vehicle, and if you take a wrong trail near the location, you will be stuck waiting for a 4 wheel, pickup or another SUV to bail you out. You can hike to the location following the road and its only a little over a mile and a half. The remains of the old hotel are at the location, and below Kinston is the site of South Kingston, and the reamains of an old cabin can be seen.

The original contents of the cache are:

Vial of gold (yes its real)
Colapsable cup
Light stick
Silly Putty
Emergency blanket
2 envelopes with 2 streamer flies in each
Keychain knife
Wheresgeoge bill
Fun Saver Camera - please take your pic preferably in front of the hotel ruins and log the frame number.

Travel Bug - Ghost 5 who is free to wander. Please keep the bear and the bug together, they are a couple.

Enjoy

Went for a drive (and some hikes) up in the hills above the gambling towns - this was the last of five geocaches that I found along the way. TN-LN-SL. Thanks !

Beautiful, blue sky day and a bit windy up here today. Cache survived another winter and is in good shape as it approaches its 15 year anniversary. I drove up here from the Tolland side and headed back out via Apex and Black Hawk. Cheers!

A nice old mining area off FS 175. It is a shame the structures aren't in better shape. TFTC TNLN

Spending some time at a Colorado cabin and doing some ATV caching. Definitely can't think of a better way to cache. Plenty of Jeeps, ATVs and dirt bikes out on the trails today. We tried to get to Kingston Peak but the trail was closed because of snow drifts. Bummer. Great area!! TFTC. SL.

Out Jeeping with ParadiceCache before the snow starts flying up here. Cache was difficult to find, hard to decide which were the correct items described in the hint. TNLN TFTC
