Jamaican Hot Peppers are a variety of the chili pepper. They appear in many sauces, marinades, and salsas. These peppers originated in Jamaica, but they are grown and marketed around the world in various forms. On the Scoville heat scale, Jamaican Hot peppers rank at 100,000-200,000 SHU or Scoville Heat Units.
There are three types of Jamaican peppers and these are:
  • Jamaican Hot Chocolate Peppers – These are a rich shade of chocolate brown when matured. At full maturation, they are wrinkled or ribbed with the resemblance of a large prune or date. When ready for harvest, they will have grown to around two inches in length and produce a smoky Caribbean flavor that is strong and hot. This type of chili pepper is great for making hot sauces.
  • Jamaican Hot Red Peppers – This extremely hot pepper has a thin skin and is squash shaped. They bear a color of vibrant yellow to brilliant red. These have a more spicy taste than the other two varieties. This variety is excellent for use in pickling, garnishing, or simply eating while fresh. Upon maturation, peppers will have grown to a length of about one and a half inches.
  • Jamaican Hot Yellow Peppers – With a very thin skin, these appear in a glimmering yellow or shiny red color. This type is wrinkled, when mature, and about two inches in length, with the shape of a squash as well. They contain a hot and spicy taste with a zesty appeal.

Today is my birthday and of course what did i want to do - CACHE ! We spent all day yesterday caching our way up to the NoCo event. We then stayed overnight and now are working on getting more of the letterbox series and other miscellaneous caches.

Thought this one would give us trouble but found it quickly. Thanks estrek for the smiley.
