When people left the frame houses, stores, and cobble paved streets of the east to settle in South Park, a simple log cabin was often their first home. Some quickly built rough, temporary structures, but the Snair cabin was built by a wagon maker accustomed to carefully crafting and assembling sturdy wagons that could handle hundreds of miles of heavy loads and rough roads. Note the painstakingly squared off logs that make up the walls and how carefully the joints are fitted together. This cabin was built to be a snug home for the Snair family and has survived for well over 100 years, as well as a move to this location from the Tarryall Road.

The cabin is located just off highway 24 at the Lake George Community Park and parking is available. The cabin is usually open for visitors but the cache is located outside.

Made the find and took a picture of the cabin that is very well built. The lid is missing from the container, but the logsheet was dry. However, it does need a new logsheet as we signed on the last line. TFTC.

Hello from the west coast! Jimlips and I are visiting from northern California. Our goals are to get both Tarryall, and Mingo, among other fine caches. My muggle brother joined us today, and he made most of the finds...without a GPSr! What a cool place, and another reason I love geocaching. My brother has lived here for years, and never knew it was here...we certainly would have passed it by. Found the cache quickly, but stopped in for a look around. A favorite point for the history. TNLNSL ~ Thanks Approve

Drove up with my dog, JC, from the Springs to find the oldest Colorado cache and do some high country caching. This was my favorite of the day. I love that you can go inside and all the artifacts are still there. JC did laps around the room, sniffing who knows what. She had been sniffing around the porch, and as we came out I saw what had caught her interest - a bunny hopped away! Thanks for bringing me here.

Oh I how I wish I had more time to spend in Florissant!

I had traveled solo to log Tarryall and was caching my back to where we were staying in Florissant. The favorite points caught my eye and I made the stop.

This was simply super cool. Love the interior as much as the exterior. Love all the history inside including the little scrapbook on the cabin and it's inhabitants.

So surprised to see it unlocked and untouched inside. Sadly, you just couldn't do that in Minnesota!

The bonus for me was not only finding the cache but reading about the geo-tour and finding the field of prairie dogs right next door!

Thanks for the adventure! Wish I had time to find them all!
