Wealthy Boston manufacturer George Washington Frost purchased land in this area to make a dam on the South Platte River, which formed Lake George. The lake was created to provide ice for the Colorado Midland Railroad and a resort development was built around it, receiving its post office in 1891. The ice business in Lake George became the largest in the county and the community was also supported by high-altitude potato farming. Lake George had limited success as a resort community but the railroad line was abandoned in 1918 and a flood destroyed the lake and dam in 1923, causing a major decline in the area. The lake was rebuilt and another investor promoted the town as a resort in the 1940s.

The cemetery is located a short distance northwest of Lake George on County Road 77. Please be respectful of the cemetery and remember to close the gate behind you if you decide to enter.

Found this one after grabbing the nearby Tarryall cache. Made the quick find and while I was signing the log, a bald eagle swooped down and grabbed a fish out of the river across the road from the cemetery. You don’t see that every day!! Cache is in great shape. Thanks for the smiley.

Hello from the west coast! Jimlips and I are visiting from northern California. Our goals are to get both Tarryall, and Mingo, among other fine caches. My muggle brother joined us today, and he made most of the finds...without a GPSr! Jim found this one, I was wandering off to read headstones. I love cemetary caches! TNLNSL ~ Thanks Approve

Out with NightKnight from Sacramento - caching in the area today. Thanks for the find! Paper was mush, so we added some Rite In Rain paper.
