Superior's history is one of coal mining, and the Industrial Mine was a major force in Superior's history until it closed in 1945. The first mines in this area were developed in the late 19th century. The Town itself was founded in 1896, incorporated in 1904, and reportedly named for the "superior quality" of coal found in the area. This multicache will highlight Superior's mining past and is dedicated to the men who lost their lives in the Industrial Mine.
