Point 10165, or "Gold Flake Peak" as denoted on the summit register log, is a ranked summit (>300' of topographic prominence) in southeastern Teller County on Pike National Forest.
With the summit sitting only a short distance from Gold Camp Road, this peak makes for a relatively quick hike from the road with the biggest obstacles being hiking over downed trees. The cache is hidden on a false summit a short ways to the south of the true summit, which hosts a gold tin for a summit register and a log dating back to 2005 that was established by Mr. Mike Garratt. I hiked up the "south ridge" route and have provided an additional waypoint for where I parked; from what I have read, there is some parking further up Gold Camp Road to the north that allows one to hike up the "north ridge" route.
Please place the cache back as you found it and enjoy the views! FTF prize is a vein sample containing argentiferous galena, chalcopyrite, and quartz from Silver Lake Basin near Silverton, CO.
