On June 18, 2001, this family of four found their first geocache “GC10D Dinosaur Ridge”. We opened a geocaching account six days later on June 24, 2001.

We were introduced to geocaching by a dear friend and co-worker of Mr. SDC.  Our kids were 10 and 12 at the time and thought this was the greatest thing to go hiking and look for treasure.  There were only around 50 caches in the entire state of Colorado and to think we have placed or hosted almost twice as many in the 18 years.

As the kids got older, they lost interest in the sport and we had a long lull in our activity.  Once we could go off on our own Mr. SDC and I got back into caching and it has been big part of our lives ever since.  We now plan our vacations around Mega Events and travel to other areas of Colorado for weekend getaways.  Our daughter Muddyboot1988 has gotten back into caching as an adult and caches with us whenever possible.

We wanted to celebrate the last 18 years by placing a cache to commemorate this awesome activity.  Hope you enjoy the cache!

Congratulations Nighthawkers on the FTF

Park on the street side of the cache, not in the parking lot.

Happy 5th of July!
I was going to find this cache last night before the fireworks but there was way too many people around.
Today we showed up to GZ right when the storm hit, and had to wait it out before making the find.
Great cache.
Left a fave.

A lot sure has changed since those early days hasn't it? Don't even think that container was in play yet, was it?
Congrats on an awesome milestone and Keep on Cachin'!!

18 years... pretty amazing. Spammer introduced us to the hobby late (2008). If we'd started 18 years ago, it there would be a WHOLE lot more map lit up now! There was even one in the park next to my regular hotel in the Tokyo area and I never knew it.

It's been fun guys, and hope we all get another 18 to play.

I was thinking about what I was doing 18 years ago on June 18. Then it occurred to me. We were at Disneyland celebrating my son's 6th birthday. My, so many changes since them.

A great find on such a fitting day. Find the "18 Years Anniversary" cache on the first day published - Published 18 years after 24 June 2001 - (small note: 4 years after my signing onto geocaching for an account 24 June 2015) Gets a fav for many reasons.
