Got to within .3 miles and walked down to GZ. I played the game of erratic gps in the little meadow until it finally Zero'ed in on an area. I searched everything and came up empty handed. I then broadened the search of the entire meadow and still came up empty handed. I found the piece of riveted metal that the FTF took the pic of but nothing else. There was a suspicious Decon shaped hollow spot in the soil beneath it but that could have been the work of mice.

Wow, what fun adventures to find this one! I made two trips to ground zero. The first trip, I was able to park about 0.55 mi away and made the hike down to gz for a dnf, so I contacted the CO to confirm I was in the right spot. Today's trip was from a different approach and my F150 couldn't make the trail (attempted, but made the right call to stop and park), so I hiked from about 0.8 mi out. Nice hike on a jeep trail and the wildflowers were great! About the time I made it to the meadow, mother nature let loose and I had a few minutes cowering in the trees trying to stay dry. The storm blew through and I started the hunt and made the find after a few minutes. Doh! How did I miss that last time?! Enjoyed the nice hike back to my truck and some great views along the way. Cheers!

Last month I had major ambitions to find both Babbling Brook and Silver Creek caches, and did fairly extensive map work to figure out possible access routes. I failed completely on Silver Creek, bumping up on private/no trespassing situations. So that day I turned my attention exclusively to Babbling Brook and made a long hike in to find it, successfully. I discovered that I could have made things a lot easier on Babbling Brook with better or at least different maps. Certainly went to much more effort than was needed for that one...
I went back to maps and sat images and studied additional options for accessing Silver Creek. This morning I was returning from yesterday’s climb of California Peak in the Sangre de Cristos Mountains and en route home looped up to the area to test my new approach ideas. One of them worked! I don’t have proper equipment to drive in close, so this involved an interesting hike. Once at GZ it took some time to locate the cache. This baby is well-hidden in a location that has multiple possibilities. I was really pleased to finally snag it and sign the log. The cache is in excellent condition. I can see why it’s so infrequently found, considering the dearth of possible ways to get into the cache vicinity. Thanks to Team Red Rubicon for another dandy!!

Spent a couple hours riding the area but couldn't find a way to GZ. Kept running into dead ends or "Private Property" signs. We did find plenty of beautiful views.
