Second attempt at getting this one. Last time my phone turned off and I lost everything. I did find something shocking in the creek tho which can't be mentioned.
Today we made short work of this hide. Thank you for the placement.

Working in Black Hawk and went for a little drive after work. Up Apex, north, south, east, west, up and down to Missouri Gulch Road and out on Gamble Gulch Rd to Hwy 119. I was able to comfortably get within 0.25 mi of this one and decided to walk down the last trail to the cache area. Good decision as the trails are pretty steep, rocky and rutted in spots. After reading the previous logs, I was semi prepared for the condition of the container and was able to duct tape the lid and it should be water tight now. It was full of water, so both logs were soaked and I replaced them with a dry sheet in a new ziploc and took the rotten stuff out with me. The brook was babbling and the flowers were in full bloom to make the spot worth the trip. Cheers!

Spending some time at a Colorado cabin and doing some ATV caching. Definitely can't think of a better to cache. Absolutely beautiful area and terrain!! Mr Elf and The Little Elf went out solo for this cache as Mrs Elf stayed at the cabin to nurse a headache. Quick find after we stopped searching the ground and looked up a bit. The cache lid has holes chewed through it which has resulted in a soaked log. We added a new log and baggie and repaired the cache as best we could. TFTC and the adventure. SL.

I really messed up on my mapping and of course had no knowledge of the area and was ignorant of all the roads that permeate the general vicinity around this cache. It's long been on my priority list, and today I went after it via a long hike that I subsequently discovered was unneeded if I had done a better job of advanced map study! The cache container had several chew holes through its top, made by a gnawing rodent. The container was full of water. I drained it out, squeezed as much water as I could from the log book, and signed an unmarked log page--the signature actually shows despite the wet paper. While I was trying to separate the pages of the log book, half a page tore out and I reinserted it. Finally, I took a small plastic baggie and covered the top of the container with it before snapping the lid closed. Hopefully, this plastic layer will keep water out in the future, but the log book might mold. Thanks for this great cache. the location immediately adjacent to the stream is a great one!
