From the Northern termination of North Finch Street a path leads North into Rothman Park.  Just before a bridge a branch leads Eastward toward The Great Bark Dog Park and one of the durable signs that the city of Lafayette has been erecting throughout the local parks system displays directions.  These signs, as part of their design, incorporate a commemoration to an era when coal was king.  Under this site are the remains of the mine known as The Gladstone Mine which was active between 1890 & 1915.  The shaft for this mine was somewhat East of this location near The Great Bark Dog Park which coincidentally is where the rail line that ran past the old grain elevators on the East side of Lafayette on SH 7 ends. The most visible feature of a mine shaft is the headframe (or winding tower, poppet head or pit head) which stands above the shaft and at the top of the headframe will be a hoist motor or a sheave wheel. The sheave wheel along with the color of the timber used in the construction is what has been incorporated into the signage.

Tftc! Didn’t have tweezers on us so we couldn’t sign the log! Very clever hide! Looked there multiple times before we figured it out.

Knew it couldn't all be easy today. This one really bit us. GPS put us a bit NNW (not more than 18' or so) of the actual hide, but caused us to spend a fair bit of time searching a very likely target (based upon D/T ratings) to no avail for quite a while. Had to enlist some help to get us back on track. VERY well disguised.

We would never have found this without using a PAF. My GRSr was locked on consistently at a spot about 16' NNW of GZ. The 3 terrain rating fit better where my unit was pointing rather than at GZ. The container was very well done and matches it's surrounding VERY well!. TFTC

We came up to the area for an FTF and saw this nearby. As soon as I looked at the listing I knew I was in for a challenge. Alpenist! Like others said before, coords are amazingly bouncy here. My first GZ turned out to be exactly where I later found the cache. But that wasn't before searching there thoroughly, checking the GZ again, getting another and searching there. Bouncy coords are not a CO's fault. But an excellently placed and crafty container is a CO's responsibility. Well done!
Thanks for the cache!

We headed out on a caching adventure to grab caches in Lafayette, Niwot, Berthoud and Loveland areas. GPS'rs were bouncing around a bit and after spending several minutes searching in a 30 foot radius, we finally decided to wave a white flag and get a hint from FLM. OMG!!! I had looked right at it a couple of times and thought to myself, Hmm, could it be. Awesome hide and camo, SL,TFTC ApproveApproveApprove
