Barney is a sidekick cache to another cache of mine called Trail Mix #38. Barney must be a good name for a sidekick. Remember Barney Fife from the Andy Griffith show? How about Barney Rubble from the Flintstones? Any guess which one came first?

This cache requires a modest hike with the hardest part getting up to the Little Scraggy Trail from the roadside parking just outside the Kelsey Campground. Or if you are camping there you can certainly park there too! The trail begins on the camp road not too far from the entrance.

You are likely to see lots of mountain bikers on the Little Scraggy Trail and you can also get to the cache area that way instead of hiking. When I hid the cache on a Friday, I did not see too many but on a weekend you will most likely see a lot of them on this very popular trail

 Hints

Lots of rocks. It's in a cranny in the middle of some smallish boulders covered with rocks. Not too hard. Well, the rocks are hard but not the hide.

Found Barney on my way back down the trail, the thunderstorms finally caught up with me and it was raining. It actually felt pretty darn good, and it was only momentary. I appreciate that Barney was off the trail a little bit, which gave me time to search in peace. There were plenty of Mountain Bikers out today! I was a big Barney Rubble fan growing up! Thanks Cajrrman for all the fun! Stamped name, TFTC!

Hit the trail today with "animjason" and "BearAdair" - we enjoyed our time in the woods. TN-LN-SL. Thanks !

google says Barney Rubble first appeared in 1959, and Barney Fife was introduced to the world in 1960

other Barneys that we found are Homers friend Barney Gumble in "The Simpsons"
and Barney the purple dinosaur - not a sidekick, but has three of them (all played by children)

I don't like Barney the Dinosaur, but I like this cache. Found with animjason, and Bhob.

Thanks cajrrman! Logged Barney from a ninth galaxy using c:geo!

I like Barney from the Simpsons. Found today with Bhob, and BearAdair. We love keeping up with the trailmix series, and buddies. Wasn't too hot today for a nice hike.

FTF!

The day looked like it was going to rain off and on most of the day.

It started at Deckers and after I parked had to wait 15 minutes and it stopped.

That made for a nice hike in the cool fresh air.

Thanks for the cache with some good exercise to go with it!
