Scenic view

I have enjoyed the hike up Old Gordon Trail in the Colorado National Monument a few times.   The trail ends at a boundary fence that can be climbed thru to continue walking toward Little Park Road.   I know this passage point can also be accessed from the Ribbon Trail area and would make an interesting top/ down shuttle hike.  I've often wondered if the route is obvious from that direction but I have not yet tried it.   Thought a cache near this passage point (outside of CNM) might prove useful to someone headed that direction. Can also be accessed the way I approached.... up Old Gordon Trail from the lower trailhead.  From parking to the fence is 3.2 miles with a 1774 ft ascent.  If you are going to hike within the National Monument before or after this passage point cache,  know that you may be subject to entry fees.... and that dogs,  bikes and other vehicles are not permitted.  Either way,  enjoy the hike!

Congratulations to Peachbob for FTF in the midst of severe weather alerts!

{FTF} 1135.

This popped up yesterday, I was in the San Yuans Geocacheing. Didn't think I would have a chance. But when it still had a blank log this morning I said, what the heck rain on not I was going after it. Arrived at the Ribbon Trail Parking, the sun was out the sky over head was blue, but to the west it was black. There is trail head, not marked, that will take you to the top of the rim cliffs. Nice easy trail to the top. From there I lost the trail, so just bushwack it to the cache. Be careful of the cactus and the black dirt try not to step on either one. The cactus hurts you and you hurt the black dirt, it's been there longer than we have.
Found the cache and blank log just as the skies turned black and began to pour. Put first ink to the log, dawned a rain coat and headed back to the truck. Didn't get to wet but the dog is a mess. Now at the truck doing this log and the sky is blue, that's Colorado for you. Thanks for putting out these caches. They bring to places I have never been.

Life is good.

From Palisade, Colorado.
THANKS FOR THE CACHE
