This was one of my toughest, scariest, and most frustrating geocaching days so far. I started by spilling my coffee on my work shirt, then driving about 3 miles past the first geocache in the mountains. Wandered around till I found my way back. Then an Audi (I already have a distaste for them) was on my rear bumper when I came around a sharp corner to find a deer in the middle of the 2 lane road. I slammed on my brakes. The Audi barely missed me, swerved into oncoming traffic and nearly hit an oncoming car. He fishtailed and took off. I pulled over at the next pull off to calm down. Then I got in over my head climbing a rock wall (solo, no ropes and I'm not a climber). Finally got down after I was drenched in Adrenalin based sweat. Then a 20 minute search for a different cache without luck. I ended the evening at 9:30 pm with 14 finds.
I stopped here, not realizing how difficult this one would be. After seeing that the coords were in the road, I checked logs and saw corrected coords and a replacement. So I used satalite maps to guide myself through the scree to the GZ. I circled around, slipping down and scrambling up without luck. Like I was OCD, I repeatedly checked placed I just searched. No luck. After 35 minutes I decided to head back down. About 15 feet below (vertically) I saw a tree with something that seemed out of place. Sure enough, that is where the replacement container was. Happy to stamp my name on the log. TFTC!

TFTC and the maintenance. I'm not sure if the original cache is still around or not. I must admit that I didn't look very hard after reading your note.

Found it kinda, actually after 2 hours of scouring the mountain side out 150’ from GZ and taking with jacobboulder, the last one to find it and 2 years of rocks moving on the hill side, I believe the mountain has covered it up or moved it on. So not wanting this rare D&T to be archived, I found a reasonable place to replace it. The cords were taken with a gps and now are closer, the CO hasn’t been active for 2 years. But if he doesn’t want this new placement then he can go take it down and let the rest of us know that his old one is still there ready to be found. The new container is a large bison tube located at N40 03.849 W105 18.316 about 96’ directly south of the original cords that were in the middle of the road.

Cliffs looked imposing

Coordinate had us in the street but logs made it sound like we had to climb the nasty rotten stuff to get to the cache. Umm, no thanks, not with my bum knee.

I'm certain I was in the right spot, but I couldn't come up with the find. I think jacobboulder has some good geosense! Definitely enjoyed the flowers across the street. Coords seem a little off since they are in the middle of the street but I'm not sure by how much. Tough with the hills here.
