The cache is near the top of Devils Slide off upper Gold Camp Road in the Pike National Forest.
This is one slide you don't want to go down the fast way!

The cache is near the highest (northwest one) of two rock pinnacles and is the easiest of the two to get to the top.

The southeast high point is a good one to visit for the view down the "slide" to Gold Camp Road. Most hikers will use their hands to get to the top. The northeast side (left side by usual approach) has some ramps that can minimize scrambling.

There are many cliffs so the "direct" approach may not work and may get you into deep trouble. It's possible to hike right to the cache without really needing your hands but there are a few rock "steps" where you might use your hands for balance.

The cache is near some cliffs so be extra careful but I wouldn't call it a scary spot unless heights really bother you. You don't want to trip at the cache location.

It's best to do this in the morning before thunderstorms move in. This area is a good target for lightning.

There isn’t a really good parking area near the trailhead. The road varies in width and is wide enough in places to park but I’ve been cautioned by a ranger to really get off the road because of what a few others might do.

It is a primitive trail that gets little use so it's easy to loose the route, especially near the first pass and the backside. There's no trail for the climbs. The hike can be less than one mile one-way.

 Hints

It's possible to look right at the cache without moving anything but it has natural camouflage and blends in. The container is about 4.5 by 6.5 inches - I didn't measure it.

First I would like to start off by stating that I was horrible at following directions on this one...I took the more "direct" and definitely "dangerous" route to this cache. I was however smart enough to follow the trail points on the way back to the road, it was a wonderful hike compared to the route in lol. My husband and I searched and searched at the top, but we had lost too much blood sweat and tears to give up....finally found the cache. Great camo!!! Loved it, a favorite point for this cache for sure. Left a pathtag and picked up a traveler to take to GW14er. Thank you for the fun.

I can't tell you the number of time I have driven past this one and each time thinking that I need to get up there. My marks for "Follows Instructions" would have been pretty poor. We didn't do anything dangerous but just made it harder than it really needed to be. Beautiful views of the ridge to the south. TFTC

WingsAndTales and I made this into a 4 terrain just by ignoring some of the waypoints. I wonder if I will ever learn that the shortest route is not always the best. It was good practice, climbing the rocks and navigating through some talus, as 14er season has arrived. Spectacular views of other hills and mountains we have climbed. A favorite point for sure.

I was hiking up to the cache with my dad. I liked the hike and it was an amazing view from the top. We heard a young girl say, "Wow" when she saw us at the summit.
I loved the camo; funny container.
The hike was worth a favorite point for sure. Thanks for bringing us here!

Great spot for a cache! I had no idea there was a trail back here. But sure enough, once we hit your trailhead waypoint there were cairns marking the trail all the way up. Thanks for a fun one, with a great view. Dropped TB, SL.
