why did we do this cache today?? because it was "just right there!" we came the long way up through seven bridges and pipeline to get the rtp cache patriot dream. we had found all the other caches along the trail previously and decided to make this hike at least a two cache day. :) thanks so much for the little extra push at the end of the first leg. ended up being a nine mile day for us. :) cache was in great shape. we signed the new log and called it a day and turned around to come home.

Out with a bunch of friends hiking in the area and thought I would check on this cache. I was the FTF back in 07 and it is still in great shape. TFTC SL

Found it. It's been a long time since I've been this way on the trail. And I wasn't geocaching back then. Thanks for leading me 66 minutes out of the way to revisit this area again. It's my last hike of the school year without kids so I figured I might as well make a long good one. Tftc

Visited the cache with estes01. Replaced log.
When coming from Seven Bridges, the best approach to the cache is to stay on the north side of the creek. The Ring-The-Peak trail crosses to the south side about half a mile from the cache.

A June 2007 ernie66 cache. Those were the days…I assume. It seems that the days of the epic hike to get to a cache are gone. Sure, a few people still attempt to do the more challenging ones, but only a handful. Most of the "usual suspects" have stopped caching. There are a few hardy cachers left though. So this cache is aptly named. It is definitely out of the way, no matter which way you approach it. I have been avoiding it for many years because it was just beyond what I felt like doing. Still, it's been nagging at me for far too long. What to do? Drag the cache owner with you…he needs exercise as much as I do, probably more. We came up 7 Bridges and followed the Pipeline Trail. But things got a bit confusing as there seems to be some rerouting going on. I'd follow the old trail even though it's a little overgrown and is a borderline "good trail." I'll let Ernie explain about the route. It's actually a very interesting area for a cache, but I'm biased.

Hi- I made a long, sorta' isolated hike today to get some more trail & name knowledge under my belt... came as far as the RTP cache; knew I had to come on a little further! Amazing to look over the pipeline where it shows through, and imagine the project that must have been !!
No one in the whole region from the top of Cheyenne Canyon (with the construction road closure) at High Drive; all the way here & back until I was down to about bridge 3 or 2!
Cache is in perfect shape, I squeezed in a Pink Shoe. See ya!!

I'm glad we went 66 minutes out of our way to get this one! The trails are very nice and mostly snow-free. Thanks for the cache.
