Along Yellow Gulch wash on the way to Yellow Slide cache if you please.

Some abandoned buildings in this area are made of wood and some of stone. This is pioneer stuff. No refrigeration, no air conditioning. So why the difference in materials and to what purpose? How was it possible to make a living here along this remote wash and what was the occupation of the residents? Most of all, where is the cache? Be careful at abandoned buildings. No need to dig too deep inside.

BYOP

Through sleet, through hail, through dark of night...nothing will keep DARR from an FTF. Congrats! You certainly earned that one!

Cool old buildings around the area. It seems I was just here a short while ago and thought I need to come back and place a cache. But yours was just right and the hint made perfect sense once I found it.

So, after logging the Pine/Juniper/Cedar cache I headed up the jeep trail, keeping to the left at the two wyes. Because of the rain I was trying avoid the wash. About half way to this cache site the wind picked up and the rain changed to hail, with thunder to add to the excitement. I used junipers along the way for shelter and as I was sitting under one I spied the cabins down below. So, I ran down to the stone cabin to wait out the hail storm. As I was sitting there I looked up the description to the cache and realized I was within arms reach of the well placed cache. After logging it, and as the storm slowed, I could see that the wash was not an option to return to the cache mobile; water was running to much for my liking.
I took the jeep trail back and followed it to the road which lead to the truck. I met the property owner just as I got back and explained I was on his road because the wash was running. He was very understanding. Anyhow, I'm glad to be back logging this one.
Thank You for the adventure Sherry...this is one I won't soon forget.
