The cache is a short walk up the trail from either the community center or street parking.
The area is a hidden gem of trails for walkers, runners, and mountain bikers. In the winter, the trails are great for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
In June of 2002, the Coal Seam Fire burned a total of 12,229 acres in and around Glenwood Springs. As the fire approached the city, the flames came up and over the mountain. Today, as you look up at Red Mountain, you can see the charred remains of trees on the mountain side. The mountain is now covered with oak brush and wildflowers and is park land for the city. The cache can hold small items and trackables.
