There used to be a cache not far from here and everytime we came to hike we would look for it and could never find it. It has since been archived and so we thought we would try placing a cache close by but not in the same spot in hopes it would last longer. You will need to climb up to get this one. Container is a clear lock n lock.

Came at this one from the top and worked my way back down. After reading previous posts, I worked my way back up. Nada. As I was coming back down I noticed that one suspicious rock and low & behold. I agree there are plenty of hiding spots & I was also about 25 ft off. But cache was in great condition. Took a tag & left a “z” in honor of GeoDee who left letters wherever he went.

Well, I was hiking with a couple of crazy geodogs, which made things more difficult in some ways, but lead me to finding the cache in the end. I tried out my new method of keeping the dogs contained while I search - it is hammering tent stakes in the ground that holds the leashes down. It worked for Kota, who is feisty, but probably weighs 40-45 pounds, but Loki (60-65 pounds) made short work of his constraint. I called Loki back and got him to sit, but Kota became more agitated as I worked wider circles around GZ. Looked at so many obvious good places without luck and soon found myself more than 50' from GZ. Then I looked at logs and gallery photos and finally was able to match a photo with a setting and search a lower area, and still no cache. I finally gathered up the dogs and headed out to the trail. Then I realized Kota no longer had his poo-bag tied around his collar and think I recalled it may have become dislodged while pacing during his confinement. Do I want to go all the way back up there? Well, my pet peeve (no pun intended) is people who bag up their dog's feces only to leave the bag behind - as if it somehow improves on the natural setting. So, I went back, but came in further west to avoid two climbing teenage muggles. Then I found it (the geocache), lying out in the open, about 100' west of GZ. There was no log or logbook, so I made a quick substitute using some papers in my pocket. But I did not have a baggie to protect the log, so maintenance is required ASAP. And, yes, I did retrieve the poo-bag and deposit it in a proper receptacle.

Challenging find. Lots of cracks, crevices and caves. Found it 25 feet from my GPS ground zero. Fantastic view. Left Gettysburg. Thanks for placing this new cache. K7
