The view from this location is Amazing. I can even see my house from this location, and my house is over in the Briargate part of town. Per my GPS, as a crow flies, my house is only 17.80 miles away, with a bearing of 28 degrees, true north. (OK, silly trivia. But one day there might be a test.)
You are looking for a 32 once wide mouth Nalgene wattle bottle. (Since we can’t drink out of the old models, they sure do make great cache containers.) I placed this cache, after a wonderful day of caching off of Old Stage Road, in the local mountains just a little southwest of Cheyenne Mountain. This cache was placed just a little more than one mile east of "Old Stage Road," just off FSR 371. There is another great cache approx .60 of mile southwest, Gray Back Peak (GCW684,) off of this same trail. So do yourself a favor and pick both of them up, while you are in the area.

There are a number of great caches along "Old Stage Road" and “Gold Camp Road,” I just figured we needed some additional caches on the eastern side of the road, as well. So this is my way of adding another fun stop to this great sport of geocaching, and besides the view is amazing. So stop a moment and take in the VIEW.

There are a few flat rocks nearby that I stopped at and took in the views, so this might be a good resting place for you too. Maybe bring a good book and relax, for a while.

Please note, there are no puzzles to solve and there is not a clue to another cache that you have to pick up here either. This is just a good old fashion geocache from a guy who wanted to point out an Awesome VIEW of Colorado Springs.

The container is just big enough for geocoins or small travel bugs. Please make sure you seal up the container before you depart, and please hide it the way you found it.

I would say the approach to the cache from the suggested parking is an easy hike or even easier with a mountain bike. However, the location of the cache might have a higher terrain rating, based off the rocks and the cliffs. Bring your mountain bike, if you wish, but be prepared to hike it some of the way. And you might want to leave it behind for the last .25 of a mile to the cache.

One more thing, *Please be careful around some of the rocks at the final. Just my 2-cents, put your GPS down once you see the Chimney.*

*6/1/08, Congrats to Kriskook and Cirrus142, for being the FTF!*

Sadly I only had a few caches saved to an offline list today. My phone didn’t like this area. But enjoyed the hike with the husband and kids today... glad they helped me along

We needed this cache for our Fizzy, so we went after it today while we were in the area looking for a few other caches. Nice hike on the trail until we got close, then bushwhacked for a little bit. The container was easy to get to by making our final approach from the north. Signed log. Thanks for this fun cache.

Went looking for the bear Estes01 said she saw up here years ago, but no joy on that on way up. (Well I hope not on way down either since I am logging from the summit and am unarmed). I had my bear sighting for the week last week in Williams Canyon. Word musta come down from there, which I can see from here, I was coming and to watch out! Stay clear Smokey, Yogi, Boo Boo and Ben, I am coming down!

Made way over here from EAST without a problem. What a view from the chimney! Thanks Spivey for this cache also!

Looks like more spheroidal weathering up here too (tip of the hat to The SKuLL for that)!

An item that had remained on our to-do list was to make a summer trip to Colorado. This year marked our opportunity and as we often do, we weaved in some caches along the way and during our various activities. We focused on a variety of caches, but mainly new counties, puzzle caches, and some higher D/T combinations. Our trip was great and geocaching again added to our experience, even taking us to areas we wouldn't have gone otherwise.

One particular thing we wanted to do was to take a secluded drive up into the mountains and to do some hiking. This cache seemed to fit those objectives perfectly. We had a great time and this was one of our most favorite caches of the trip. Most everything went smoothly, including the weather. The only hiccup was taking an incorrect path shortly after the Junction in the Trail reference point. After realizing our error, we backtracked about a tenth of mile and got going on a more accurate bearing. In the end, can't say that we saw Spivey's house...but can say that we saw LOTS of things from GZ's vantage point. Oh, and apparently we weren't as secluded as we thought as we met a couple enjoying the trail as we returned to the trailhead. Leaving a much-deserved blue ribbon, thanks for the hide.

We started after this cache well before there was any light wanting to see if would could catch the sunrise. Sadly, my wife twisted her ankle and needed some time to walk it off so we missed the sunrise getting the glaring sun. But, the view and climb out to the cache were spectacular. The one gets a rare fav point from me.

Decided to find the caches around Grayback. Found with JavaChip. Great Views! TFTC!
