From the beginning of Ute Trail at 38 33.791 N and 105 59.234W go east 4.3 miles to Forest Service Rd. 181 at 38 36.069N and 105 56.544W. Follow this road 2.2 miles to Forest Service Rd. 181A at 38 34.935 N and 105 55.570W. Stay on 181A, 4X4 recommended. You can actually drive very close to the cache but most will choose not to. A short climb of 200 vertical feet will get you close to the cache by following the road. Cache is in a dark red Rubbermaid type thermos. Notice the old fence on the right going in or left as you come out on 181A. Can see deer, elk or bear in the area. Entire trip should take a couple of hours from town. Enjoy!

Found this with RockDoc, and our daughters on a rare weekend when we could all get together. Had to park on 181A at a giant mudpit in the road, and had a 1.86 mile hike to the cache. Beautiful views along the way! GPS arrow flipped around at the Crater, but we finally found it! Interesting rock formation there. Thanks for a great cache!

Although it's been awhile since anyone was here, the cache is in great shape. Found it by a rock in the open so I covered it up a bit to protect it from the sun. The ride out was nice but the hike seemed to get worse the closer we got to the top. This is however my definition of the perfect cache. Jeep ride to trail head and then a short hike to the smiley. Thanks for putting this out here, made for a nice afternoon.

I always get a kick out of exploring these roads, and this was a lovely little hike as well. Thanks!

A great morning for a hike, although a bit strenuous, PackerFan54 and I found the cache. The view from The Crater is beautiful. Left a Pabst Blue Ribbon patch that you can sew on to your jacket or sweater.

found with travelbums. This was my first geocache experience. Travelbums led the way. Hard climb. He beat me. It was a matter of pride. He found the cache first. amazing view from the top. great start on a cool hobby of adventures.

Been wanting to get to this guy for some time, so today a friend from Florida and I made the trip, what a neat place and good climb to get there, the cache is in great shape, we took nothing just signed the log and left a bullet from a Florida policemans gun, went on to the top then and what a view from the crater lip although it was a hazy day because of the smoke that is in the air sight now, but we enjoyed the trip and view and the cache to,
thanks B & D
