This is habitat for nesting Mountain Bluebirds, with the male being striking blue overall and the female being blue and gray.  There are about 20 bird-nesting boxes in the area that are used by Mountain Bluebirds or Tree Swallows every year.  Look for swallows and bluebirds as you travel on Golf Course Road.     

The area suffered a huge pine beetle infestation several years ago and many of the dead trees fell or were removed, thus creating bluebird habitat   Bluebirds hunt mostly for bugs they find on the ground.  Tree Swallows feed on flying bugs.  New growth of Lodgepole Pine is re-vegetating the area.

Below you is a golf course in the summer and a nordic center in the winter.  Pickleball and tennis are played just down the hill.  To the north is a beautiful view of the Never Summer mountain range that overlooks Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP).

Previous log was dead on, about 20 ft south from posted coordinates, certainly within the margin of error, but that note made it a lot easier to find. Cache is in great shape!

Found about 20 feet south of coordinates. I searched for this on new year's eve with no luck due to snow cover. This time I was able to find without too much trouble. There is a birdhouse nearby with "bluebird" written on it. I should note that the cache is not the birdhouse. Thank you for placing this cache and helping to keep our recreation going.

My son, I and his three daughters are here from the St. Louis area to hike and fish for the week. Our last day here and my son told me to just go out and do something as the girls just wanted to laze around. So I went for five nearby caches. I was hesitant when I first saw this dirt road, but it did say tennis court so I went for it. Nice little picnic area and views of the golf course. Looked like another storm about to come in.
