You're looking for a small, well-camo'd, water tight container containing a log, a handful of foreign coins, and one of the copper vacuum seal rings from my fusion reactor.
If you find that your sunny day coordinates are different from my cloudy day coordinates, please do let me know and I'll update them!
Proxima Centauri is the nearest star to us, about 4.2 light years away.
How far is a light year?
It's really hard for a person to picture just how distant the stars are.
Let's try to put it in perspective. Got your geo-pen? Hold it up in front of you and look very closely at the little ball in the tip.
Now, imagine that is the size of our sun.
Hold your finger about 6cm away. That's how far away the Earth orbits the sun, but at this scale the Earth is too small to really see.
At this scale, Proxima Centauri is 14 kilometers away from here. It's hard to pick out a visual reference on the horizon that far away, so let's compare that with the distance to Livermore, the little town you probably drove through to get here. Livermore is about 28 kilometers away, so halfway between here and there is Proxima Centauri.
Look up at the horizon... now look back down at your pen. Back at the horizon... back down to the pen.
That is a. Long. Distance.
At the maximum speed man has ever traveled, it would take about 150,000 years to get there.
