You're looking for a small, well-camo'd, water tight container containing a log, a handful of foreign coins, and one of the copper vacuum seal rings from my fusion reactor.

If you find that your sunny day coordinates are different from my cloudy day coordinates, please do let me know and I'll update them!

Our sun is about one million times the size of the Earth. Even solar flares can be massively larger than the Earth, sometimes 30 times the Earth's diameter.

As large as the sun is, it's still tiny compared to many stars. The largest known star is VY Canis Majoris, a red hypergiant star in the Canis Major constellation. VY Canis Majoris is about 5,000 light years away, and it is about ten billion times the size of our sun.

It's believed that VY Canis Majoris only has about 100,000 years left before it explodes. It will be an explosion so huge that it's not called a nova, or a supernova... but a hypernova. It could be so bright that it would be visible on Earth even during the day.

With a Monday off from work, I decided to scout out a new hiking area that had a nice collection of caches. I had the trails to myself on this crisp fall day and managed to find eight great caches. It's nice without any muggles around and the non-micro containers are less of a headache. Unfortunately, this one was my DNF for the trip. Got to GZ no problem, but came up empty after searching for about a half hour. I couldn't imagine searching back there when all the ferns were still standing. Adding this one to my watchlist to see how others fare.

I have a tale of woe and embarrassment.

The embarrassment is that the hint I left for this cache should have been for the one up the hill (DNA) and its hint was supposed to be for this one.

The woe is... well, the same.

My GPS led me right to the coordinates for this cache, but it was absolutely not where the hint indicated, probably hence the confusion.

Ugh. No luck here. I was able to recalibrate my GPSr but there were no burned trunks nearby, I expanded my search and my heart soared to the stars as I wandered over 100' to see a beautiful example of a vertical burned tree trunk, but alas, no container. I wandered uphill to get a better view of the treescape and spotted some burned trees from that vantage but still no luck. I spent a lot of time here but could not find a container. My GZ was close to the flow of the water through the drainage area. I was focusing on vertical trees that were burned in recent history, not something that was downed and free of bark.

When we got with in 400 feet of this one the kids did not want to continue on. I left them sitting on a large rock to fight off any wild animals that came there way. I chose the hard way to get this one and went way to far up and had to come down. Take the easy way on this one. It will pay off. An interesting note; there was a signature on this one other than Denali's. On 6/12/14 the 'USFS' signed it and said 'Thanks'. Interesting. Thanks for placing this one. I really wanted to continue on to DNA but the kids were having none of it. We have yet to have a FTF and I thought this could be the one. It still could but just not today.
