Sopressata is an Italian dry cured salami. The name is said to come from the fact that it is often pressed with a weight while drying, giving it a characteristic flattened shape. The meat is typically ground more coarsely than for other types of salami, which gives it an uneven, "rustic" appearance when sliced. The sausage is hung up to dry for anywhere between 3 and 12 weeks. At the end of the drying phase, the sopressata is commonly stored in jars of olive oil.
There is a faint ATV trail almost all the way to the cache. I would recommend walking the last 1/2 mile unless you are up for a difficult trail.

First find in almost 4 years. I've had these caches on my GPS for a few years and was a bit nervous about spending the time on this one while using a .gpx download from 2011. But the effort paid off. The cache was still there and it was in great shape. That's a steep hike though. Even the dog had enough. I wasn't comfortable enough with the road to get the Jeep all the way to the parking area. But close enough. Thanks!

Wow. what a hike. I parked below the parking area and hiked in. Was in the area elk hunting. Maybe should have left my hunting rifle behind. Enjoyed the remote are. Signed the log. Thanks.

I didn't try to drive all the way to the parking area, but was very excited to see where the trail went past there... :-) Guess I'm out here to hike, so... TFTC!
