Out Jeeping with Grandad and the boys. Looked for a bit but could not find it. This would be a sweet camping spot though. We went all the way up to the Ironclads, even hiked up to one of the bumps. Great scenery up here.

Awesome to find a good size cache that’s been in place for awhile. Thanks for placing it for us to find.

We found this cache as part of some vacationing in Colorado. We often target a few caches when we travel, usually trying our luck on a few higher difficulty/terrain caches, puzzle caches, ones that add new counties, and others that well…just seem interesting. This one was grabbed while we were doing some 4x4 riding in the area. For an ammo can, the container here was well-concealed and required a bit of searching. Congrats on this one being in the wild for 14+ years. Thanks for the hide, in a great location.

I'm not fond of throwdown replacements when you can't find a cache, but we had to make an exception here.

Bug Ranger and I passed by this one as we were hiking up the road to Red Ruby's Ironclad Cache. We spent a long time climbing around the rocks looking for Kasper, but it was nowhere to be found. Given that msstrong, an experience cacher, couldn't find it either, and given that a camper found it by accident last November, we concluded it had been muggled.

After that disappointment, we continued up the road to Red Ruby's cache and found it easily. Too easily as it turned out, when we found a second ammo can near the first one with a log that also said it was Red Ruby's. This confused us, but we eventually decided to take the extra cache and put it at the Kasper location. We hid it as well as we could in accordance with the original coords and cache description.

Normally I would never throw down a replacement (never mind an ammo can!) without coordination, but Kasper hasn't been active since 2004 and we really do think it's gone missing. If the next cacher happens to find both caches, I recommend you take one away with you. We made what we thought was the best decision for the caching community.

Caching with Path Pacer to get a few more jeep-road caches and a couple more D/T caches for our Fizzy charts. Drove part-way in on FS-216 in Path Pacer's Subaru, then hiked the rest of the way to Kasper's & Red Ruby's caches on the steep & dusty road. Got to this one first, and worked our way through the rocks & along the cliff for more than 45 minutes, re-reading the online cache logs & previous DNF, before declaring a DNF ourselves. Hiked up to Red Ruby's Ironclad Cache, where we found TWO ammo box caches. After laughing about the unlikelihood of finding 2 at one, and none here, we decided to move the "spare" back here. Placed as close to GZ, and with the original cache description, as possible, and disguised well to prevent other campers from chancing upon the hide. Hope there's no heartburn over this, but there's a cache ready again to be found here. TFTH!

Stumbled upon this cache in while camping before I even knew what geocaching was.

I had the pleasure of spending this snowy April afternoon with a few members of Team Red Rubicon up on the trails. They'd found every cache, but were very generous to take me around to each spot. (Well, as close as the Jeeps would allow, anyway!) Really enjoyed the time up here. TFTC!
