This easy cache is right on the Angel of Shavano trailhead which serves as major trailhead along the Colorado Trail (#1776) which stretches from Denver to Durango, Colorado. The trailhead is located about 9 miles west of Salida.

A group of families (kids ranging from 3 to 10) created this cache during a Memorial Day Camping trip when we were staying at the Angel of Shavano campground West of Salida/Poncha Springs.

The cache is located underneath a fallen tree that the kids were climbing on.  Four out of the eight kids who climbed the tree got scratches from it (hence the name).

The cache is stored in a plastic box under the tree and is blocked by a rock.

We hope you enjoy finding it as much as we enjoyed hiding it.

1:52 PM We are from Dallas. This week we are staying in Salida, CO.

Today we decided to take a short acclimation hike. This was the far point of our hike before returning to the trailhead.

Previous finder did, indeed, leave it well fortified and I did the same. Seems like they had imprisoned a swarm of mosquitoes, so be warned.

I signed the log. Thanks, jzapin, for setting up the cache for me to find.
