The Willow Creek Nature and Birding Trail is a shaded departure from the surrounding prairie and seemingly endless plains. Willow Creek flows beside the trail and is home to many types of creatures including a colony of beavers. This could be a quick find but for the best experience, follow the trail south to catch a glimpse of local wildlife or stay on the Lamar loop and venture to Willow Creek Park or to the Lamar Baseball/Softball Complex.
The Lamar Loop is 9 miles of new trail that will make recreation in Lamar safer, more affordable, easier to access and fun! The Loop will connect 5 parks, 5 schools, 1 community college, 3 existing recreational facilities and 3 existing trails. The majority of Lamar residents will live within 1 mile of the Loop. The Loop has been made possible through grant funding from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and Healthy Places.
The cache is easily found in the LCC Woods slightly south of the Lamar Loop. The woods are home to a lush landscape with trees, vines and wildlife. It is a great location for birders. The cache is in a plastic water container and contains a log book and some interesting information.
