11/04/2018 By Kerewin0430 What a fun cache! Perfect day, too...I was apprehensive about daylight and weather when GoMRT shot me a message sort of late in the day, asking which caches I was out getting. I hadn't even ventured outside yet today(!), but we had solved this one recently and I wasn't going to let him go after it without me. Normally, I am not a huge fan of snow, but for once, I wasn't cold, the wind wasn't biting, it wasn't icy, and the white stuff actually made the final ascent easier than it might otherwise be. Saw some cat prints, but was happy to spot the dark chest a little ways away from them and closer to other types of tracks - looks like mountain goats are keeping a watchful eye on this one. LOVED the location of the final! Watched the sky do some pretty amazing things while up there. I've been hesitant to hike in ice/snow and hadn't been back to the canyon since breaking my arm here in January in similar conditions, so thank you for a great, redeeming reason to give it another go!
11/04/2018 By CVA64 With microbacteria driving us to get outside today and geocache for our better health, the dark chest was beckoning from on high in the hills to the lowlands to be found. Despite the tree tall snow drifts and dragon homes that must avoided, this seemed to be the destined destination for today. Saddled up for the jaunt in the white fall beauty, headway was made as one would find where gold once made way. Listening for walls that may talk, the dark chest called out from on high "here I am!" Making way, up, up, up we go, dark chest of wonders is there waiting to be found and seen today, the day of sun, snow, and mystery. Found, it was in the clutches as described. So, thank you for this cache today as it helped feed our body's needs being outside and among nature.
01/09/2018 By ernie66 Checked on the cache today and all is well. There are now two places near the start where "At the gate, take the old road" could be applied, so I added a waypoint for the correct starting point. Also added a geochecker link, spoiler photo, and hint for the hide. It's a long hike only to come up empty.
03/28/2017 By brennan7 What an amazing adventure. I'm home from school for Spring Break at the moment and decided to take my parents on a hike and this cache was one that I've wanted to do ever since it came out! It certainly did not disappoint. We started off in the wring direction cut quickly changed our course and figured out where we needed to be. Like another cacher previously, I wasnt good enough to plot the coordinates to the final prior to the hike, but the directions were good enough to take us exactly where we needed to be. Great theming of the cache! We need more like it down here! Thanks for the great adventure, and thanks for all that you do for this game, Ernie! Obviously awarding a favorite point, and I'll attach a bunch of our photos in a moment. Thanks for the adventure!
11/15/2016 By billkat This is my favorite letterbox cache. Fun to follow and great cache to find. Loved screeing down after. I did go on up further and signed another cache also since it was close. Had a fun day hiking. Went up after hiking Cutler and Muscoco. TFTC! My projected coords were within 50 feet.
09/11/2016 By LeewayeDiscGolf Needed something awesome for my 1,700th cache. While this cache may not seem like a milestone cache for some, it has special significance to me. My neice and I stayed up late one night solving this and she hand wrote every bit of it out. Due to circumstances beyond anyone's control except for her mom's, my neice is no longer around any of the family and we never made it back here to get the final together. So this milestone is dedicated to my neice Jaydyn. We used her directions to find the cache. Everything about this cache was awesome! The puzzle, the clues, the area, the views, the physical part, the container, the bonus TB, etc. We spent awhile around and near GZ until the container was finally spotted. Nice logbook and stamp. More people need to get out and enjoy this cache! We took tons of pics but only posted the milestone pic, which we randomly took on the way out, so we don't giveaway the cache location. Great job and favorite point for sure! There is a waymarker near/during Go East.
